I just got back from the landfill and looked closely at my bill. I dropped off .18 tons of household items, I was charged a commercial rate.
The rate is $47.60 per ton, I was charged $14.50 which is the equivalent of .30 tons. I was also charged more in fees than the weight of the items I discarded. There is a colum on the bill indicating the “rate” and one for the amount billed. None of those amounts correspond to the actual amount I should have been charged by weight.
I called the weigh station they had no excuse, they said they just charge what the computer says to charge.
I called the local office for waste management and asked to speak with someone about how their prices are calculated. They said there is no one to speak to, call the weigh station, which I had already done.
